New Moon in Taurus – Staying Grounded & Healthy
Happy New Moon in Taurus! I hope this finds you safe and healthy. We’re into the sixth week of the COVID-19 pandemic, and hopefully we’ve settled into this new “normal” and started to adjust to the changes we’ve experienced in our daily lives. For some, it’s a new kind of stress associated with going to work; for others, it’s the challenge of being isolated (with or without working). Factor in potential money issues, the new stress that is grocery shopping, and full families stuck under the same roof for weeks at a time and we have the ingredients for some serious chaos! It’s important to remember that tensions are running high everywhere. Everyone is facing their own unique set of challenges and circumstances, so try to be patient and compassionate, especially with yourself. It’s a time to be extra mindful of your own state of health and well-being. These extra stressors and challenges, as well all the fears that may be popping up, can cause us to feel anxious and ungrounded. Self-care is always important, but it’s even more critical right now. New Moon in Taurus gives us an opportunity for grounding, stability, relative emotional calm, and even a little indulgence.
Today is also Earth Day; a nice little harmonious alignment with our earthy new moon! It’s a perfect time to (safely) get outdoors and connect with Mother Earth and show her some love. The act of giving back and nurturing our planet has the added benefit of being therapeutic and nourishing for our souls, and we receive reciprocal healing as we give it.
This new moon in Taurus is heavily influenced by the conjunct Uranus, the planet of chaos and upheaval, so expecting the unexpected will be a central theme right now. With a challenging square to Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto, even more rigidity, restriction, and uncertainty is added to the mix. We may find ourselves feeling the full burden of the limitations we’re experiencing right now, in the physical, mental and financial senses, and we may see more endings as lessons are concluded and shifts begin to occur. We might be tempted to overindulge in something as a coping strategy. Instead, try to focus on the things you can control, like staying grounded, healthy, and stimulated in your own safe space, and how you can continue to grow and flourish even in this “limited” environment.
Here are some simple ideas for staying grounded and balanced during new moon in Taurus (and anytime):
ü Turn off the news, put the devices down, and get outside! Watch the wildlife; admire the sprouting buds on the trees; listen to the birds chirping; hug a tree. If you’re feeling especially frazzled, sit or stand on a patch of grass and visualize yourself meshing with Mother Earth’s vibrant red energy. Send roots from the bottoms of your feet down into her core, and draw up her quiet power and stability. Take long, deep breaths in and out; visualize and feel the stress leaving your body and mind.
ü Meditate with crystals and/or essential oils. Meditation helps to clear and focus the mind, lower stress levels, and strengthen intuition. Crystals and essential oils can enhance intuition and amplify the meditation experience.
ü Self-care, self-care, self-care! Eat the chocolate, take the calming baths, stretch out with the cozy blankets. Indulge yourself, but try to keep it balanced.
ü To Do List, anyone? Indoor projects such as spring cleaning, decluttering, tidying, organizing, and purging can be very engaging and immensely satisfying. Outdoor projects have all the same benefits with the added perks of fresh air and sunshine. Taurus is a homebody and takes great pride in creating beautiful, cozy spaces – harness this energy to bring your own projects to life. “Projects” can also include personal hobbies like crafting, reading, writing, and other artistic interests.
ü Taurus is the sign that worries about how we get our money, so this is a perfect time to manifest financial abundance. If you have any citrine crystals, make sure they are front and centre in your daily life, and add a piece of pyrite for amplified effects. If you don’t have any citrine, jade is another great choice, but any green stone will work.
Wishing you all a blessed and healthy new moon! Until next time…
