Friday the 13th New Moon Circle
Why do people fear Friday the 13th? Many scholars believe that the phobia associated with Friday dates back to Christianity and other religions. Jesus was crucified on a Friday. Eve tempted Adam with the forbidden fruit on a Friday. The 13th guest at the Last Supper, Judas, betrayed Jesus. Abel was slain by Cain on Friday the 13th.
Even in present day, many don’t like the number 13 and will avoid it in all parts of their lives. Hotels have even been known to skip that number when they are numbering their floors, just to alleviate the fears of the superstitions.
Why do Pagans believe a full or new moon falling on Friday the 13th is so special? For Pagans, Friday the 13th is not unlucky at all! The name Friday derives from the Goddess Freya. She is the Goddess of love and fertility. She is always accompanied by two black cats. Wiccans believe Friday is the best day for love and abundance spells. The number 13 has always been a powerful number for Pagans as well. We have 13 moons in the lunar cycle. Women menstruate 13 times a year for a complete yearly cycle. The number 13 has always been associated with the Goddess. The energy of Friday the 13th and the New Moon gives the day and night, an amplified opportunity for magickal workings!
Join High Priestess Reverend Karyn Williams where will meet under candlelight for a burning ritual and maifestation spell. It’s a great time to let go of what has tied us down. Burning has long been used as a great way to release the negativity. So we will be using the power of Friday the 13th to do a simple burning ritual for cleansing and releasing situations and relationships that have caused us pain. Our cauldron will be ready to accept our pain and turn it into ashes! Time to let it go so you can have a sense of finality…and create the future we desire!
