Can Crystals Heal Your Pet?
This summer, I was inspired by a customer at The Zen Shop who bought his cat a crystal. I too, wanted to introduce the healing powers of crystals to my aging dog. My fur baby Max will be 14 this year, and he’s had his fair share of health issues over the years – he wasn’t expected to live past 10 years old.. He’s a strong and resilient boy, but he needs a little more help these days, and my husband and I have always been fans of more natural approaches.
As with humans, stones should be used carefully with animals. It’s important not to overwhelm them with too much powerful energy. There are many stones that can have immense benefit to animals, but you know your pet best; always do your own research and allow your intuition to help guide you to the stones they need most. This is one of the reasons I chose a single wrapped amethyst pendant for Max’s collar. I also made a healing bag of sodalite, rose quartz, clear quartz, and citrine. I infused them all with Reiki to give an extra healing boost for him. I put the bag of other crystals where he can find it – he’ll be drawn to them when he needs their energy, and he can get some space when he needs a break.
Amethyst has an overall calming effect and is great for anxious pets. It’s also one of the best stones for aging pets as it soothes aching joints and boosts overall health and vitality. It helps to remove negativity and align their energy. It’s a great crystal for separation anxiety; a raw chunk placed in the room your pet frequents the most will help bring calm and comfort when you’re away from them.
Clear quartz, the “Master Stone”, is a high-vibration healing amplifier that supports immunity, so it can help with anything and everything. It can boost energy levels, treat disorientation, and help to improve communication and understanding between the animal and owner. Pair it with other healing stones to enhance their effects.
Rose Quartz, the “love stone”, helps to surround your pet with love. It connects to the heart chakra, enhancing the love between you and your pet, and increases their self-confidence. It can be beneficial for kidney disease and is also helpful for healing wounds.
Sodalite is another calming stone that helps with anxiety and aggression. It’s great for pets who don’t travel well and helps to boost their confidence. It can also help with calcium issues and it supports energy levels by balancing out the endocrine system.
Citrine is a wonderful mood-boosting stone that connects to the solar plexus chakra and brings abundance of every kind. It promotes relaxation so it’s great for insomnia, anxiety, and digestive issues of all varieties. It’s an excellent stone to help your pet release and be open to new energies.
18 months ago or so, we started Max on an all-natural anxiety supplement, and CBD oil. I believe this combined with the crystal healing have contributed to big changes in him! He’s been more comfortable, his appetite has improved and he’s even gained some weight! He’s been much calmer (he can be a pretty high-strung little guy!). He’s even handling the weekend car rides to the cottage (with my two young girls) much better. I find him often going to the satchel of crystals in his bed!
You can attach stones to your pets collars. Always be safe; nothing sharp or oversized, and polished stones are preferable. You can choose stones to create a healing satchel and place it in your pet’s bed or favourite sleeping spot. You can place crystals out in your home so your pet can feel the healing vibes moving throughout the space. Be sure to pay close attention to them after introducing any new stones. They may experience “purging” as their energy clears and balances to align with the crystals. Thich is normal and can happen to us humans, too; but also like people, not all stones are meant for all, all the time. Some may experience adverse effects if the energy is too strong for them. Always use your judgement and intuition to guide you in what stones to use, how to use them, and how to adjust things as you go along.
