Introduction to Tea Leaf Reading
In this class we will be studying the Art of Tasseography– which is the understanding and interpretation of reading Tea Leaves. The term Tasseography loosely translates to the Greek interpretation of “writing in a cup”.
The modern Tea Readings that we know today started in Europe in the seventeenth century when Tea was first brought to the continent via the Silk Road. Originally, only available to the upper classes, in time it became more widely known and accepted, and everyone could get a cup of Divination.
Tasseography rituals vary based on cultural backgrounds and personal preference, but a basic ritual is simple.
In this Class, each person will have a Tea cup, loose leaf Tea, a small plate, and a pen and paper provided.
You will be introduced to the proper brewing of the Tea, and what actions are to be followed to prepare your Tea cup for a Reading. You will be presented with information that will be helpful in knowing what to look for in a cup, such as how the cup is divided in a Reading to interpret timing. We will also be covering what Symbols, Numbers, Objects and Animals represent when seen in a cup. We will be brewing and drinking our own cup of Tea , as well as having the fun of reading each other’s fortune in the Tea Leaves!
