Introduction to Witchcraft

Part of the Witches Series of Classes

Presented by The Oshawa School of Witchcraft at The Zen Shop

Have you ever felt drawn to the path of witchcraft but weren’t sure where to begin?

Join High Priestess Rev. Karyn Williams for an engaging and informative introduction to the craft through the Oshawa School of Witchcraft, one of Durham Region’s longest-running witchcraft education programs.

This class serves as the starting point in our Witches Series of Classes, a structured curriculum designed to guide students through the many layers of the craft—from foundational knowledge to more advanced magical practice. Each class builds upon the last, allowing students to deepen their understanding while developing confidence in their magical path.

Whether you are completely new or have quietly explored witchcraft on your own, this welcoming class offers a respectful and authentic introduction rooted in tradition, experience, and spiritual integrity.

Together we will explore the history, philosophy, and foundational practices of witchcraft while separating myth and misconception from the true spiritual traditions that have guided practitioners for centuries.

During this class we will discuss:

✨ The difference between Witchcraft and Wicca
✨ The origins and history of the Craft
✨ The Wheel of the Year and the meaning of the Sabbats
✨ Sacred tools, symbols, and altar practices
✨ Magical ethics and the Law of Three
✨ An introduction to divination practices
✨ Foundations of spellwork and intention magic
✨ Solitary practice vs working within a coven or magical community

Students who feel called to continue their journey will have the opportunity to progress through additional classes within the Witches Series, where teachings expand into deeper magical practice, ritual work, and advanced study of the craft.

Rev. Karyn Williams brings decades of experience to her teachings as a third-generation witch and initiated High Priestess. She has practiced both as a solitary practitioner and within covens, offering students a balanced perspective that blends traditional wisdom with modern understanding.

Throughout her career, Rev. Karyn has shared her knowledge through a variety of platforms. She has taught courses at the Learning Annex, spoken at local metaphysical events, and hosted an internet radio program dedicated to the craft and spiritual exploration. As an ordained Minister with the Metaphysical Church of Canada, she brings both spiritual depth and practical experience to her teachings.

Founded in 2018, the Oshawa School of Witchcraft was created to provide authentic, respectful education for those seeking to understand and practice the craft in a meaningful way. Many students return year after year to deepen their knowledge through workshops, rituals, and advanced magical study offered through The Zen Shop.

Whether you are simply curious or feel called to walk the path of the witch, this class offers a welcoming doorway into the craft.

Begin your magical journey with us.

The Zen Shop has become a gathering place for those seeking authentic witchcraft education, ritual practice, and spiritual community throughout Durham Region.
