Join us for an evening of pumpkin carving with a mystical twist in celebration of Samhain, the sacred time when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. As the Wheel of the Year turns toward shadow and reflection, this is the perfect opportunity to channel your creative energy into protective magick.

Throughout history, the carving of vegetables into protective wards has appeared across many cultures and traditions. The most well-known example is the Jack-o’-lantern, which originated in Ireland and Britain during the 19th century, when carved faces were used to frighten away wandering spirits and banish negative energy. This timeless custom continues today — though at The Zen Shop Oshawa, we’re giving it a deeply spiritual twist.

In this Sigil Pumpkin Carving Workshop at The Zen Shop Oshawa, Numerologist Sabrina will guide you through the ancient art of sigils — symbolic designs used for centuries in witchcraft and ceremonial magick to represent spiritual intentions, manifestations, and protection. Using the sacred languages of numerology and gematria, participants will learn how to translate a Samhain blessing, ancestral invocation, or personal protection spell into a numeric sequence. You’ll then plot your numbers onto a magic square, transforming intention into symbol and symbol into art.

Once your sigil is complete, you’ll carve it into a miniature pumpkin, infusing each cut with intention and purpose. The result is a beautiful, glowing ward that protects your home and spirit through this powerful season.

Each participant receives a triple moon charm to adorn their pumpkin and completes the ritual with a knot spell, sealing their magickal intent into the charm as a keepsake to last long after Samhain.
