Description
Sekhmet is a warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing. She is depicted as a lioness and the feline godess of Upper Egypt. . She was seen as the protector of the pharaohs and led them in warfare. Upon death, Sekhmet continued to protect them, bearing them to the afterlife. She was the daughter of the sun god, Ra. Ra crested her to seek vengeance to destroy mean who disobeyed his authority. She is the sister and wife of Ptah. Sekhmet relates to the goddess Bastet, and in union both represent the west and east.
