Thor Wood Finish Statue
In Norse mythology, Thor, is a hammer-wielding god associated with lightning, thunder, storms, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of mankind, hallowing, and fertility.
The scene on the back of this statue depicts a battle between Thor and the giant Hrungnir. Thor has struck the fatal blow by throwing his hammer, but a piece of Hrungnir’s weapon, a whetstone, has lodged itself in Thor’s forehead. Around the base are Thor’s name in runes and scenes from Norse mythology.
